Gelato

gelato_001

A photo of the most important attraction to be found in Florence.  I feel it’s my duty to sample ice cream in every shop that sells it.  This may take a while, there are a lot of them here!

And for you traditionalists, a few pictures of old buildings…

And the Arno river, from our hotel room…

As soon as I finish with my ice cream project, I’m going to do some sketching.

A city filled with beautiful sights, fascinating history, and good eats. Mangia!

Unasked-for-advice; go into some of the small churches; buy fresh foods at the market; find restaurants away from the tourist areas; and always drink the house wines!

Take the time to cross the river and go up the hill to the old church at the very top – the view is incredible (and there are 3 gelato shops up there), plus it’s the oldest church & cemetary in the area. On the way up the hill you pass through the old city wall (amazing) and go up a long set of steps that passes through a cat sanctuary (seriously!) where the local strays are safe and very friendly.
